Living the Dream

Phil and I have been married for 6 months and living in Destin, Florida. It's about time we started a blog so we could keep up with friends and family. We had a fabulous wedding in Atlanta, and then enjoyed an all-inclusive luxurious spa resort in the Mayan Riveria. After an overnight stay in Atlanta, we made our way to our new life in Destin, Florida. Phil had moved down to Destin in August, 2006. After selling my house in September 2006, I moved all of my belongings, minus myself, to his condo in Destin-since I wasn't moving down until after the wedding. The transition to Destin wasn't what I thought it would be. The pace of life is certainly slower, and the toursits from March to August get annoying. We quickly learned via traveling the roads in Destin that the south has many bad drivers. State rankings of worst drivers are: Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. We get incresingly annoyed when we see these drivers.

We live in a small condo, within walking distance of the beach, and centrally located to everything. We enjoy going to the beach on the weekends and eating at local restaurants. And we love having friends come down from Atlanta. We've had a slew of visitors in the past six months, and more to come.

It took awhile, but we have met some really great people through work and church. We are involved with a Sunday School class and have some great friends from there. I was able to start a Bible Study with three other girls, which has been very rewarding. Phil has taken up golf with some of his friends, and I continue to work out and train for triathlons.

Phil continues to plug away in the mortgage business and I am working for a local restaurant supply company doing office work-boring. After promising I would never go back into teaching, I am finding that I really do miss it a lot, and that there was a lot of fulfillment in it.

We have a lot to look forward to in the fall...every weekend is highly anticipated with college football and friends. We're going on our second honeymoon the week of Thanksgiving, buying a house, and traveling to see our families during the holidays.

Being married to Phil is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am learning daily how to be a better wife, put others before myself. Phil accepts me for who I am-flaws and all. He is so patient, kind, and loving. And I know I am always safe with him.

Please know you are welcome to visit us anytime in Destin.
